A new day...

Well, it's been a hectic week here.... Jazzy & I missed WoW (Whiskers on Wednesday) this week, hopefully we will be back for that next week. It has been super busy at work, we have had one sweet girl out sick all week (poor thing), and we lost a good friend & previous co-worker last weekend in a horrible, unexpected accident... I've been filling in for sick girls & vacationing others & haven't been able to get my own work done. Which I don't mind at all, just makes it frustrating to have my own work piling up...

Anyway... while I live in a tourist area, and the tourist business keeps me employed, and it's great seeing the crowds rolling in for summer vacations.... sometimes it can get frustrating for the locals to get to & from work, lunch, errands, daily life, etc. through all the traffic. (I think more than anything I'm just jealous of all the vacationers, I wish I were in their place.) But today while sitting at a stoplight in traffic, there was a family in a SUV with their windows rolled down (I cracked mine so I could listen), it appeared to be a couple around their mid 40's with a couple younger teenagers in the back... bathing suits still on, chairs & beach stuff piled in the back, they had Lenny Kravitz "Fly Away" cranking out of the stereo, and they were all singing along... it made me smile. That seems so simple, a smile, just because a family was singing in their car.... but it warmed my heart. I continued on my way home with a feeling of peace that I haven't felt all week.....

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and finds a little bit of joy and peace along the way.... Tomorrow is a new day....

Keepin Cool Swap TOTW #3

Now that Summer has OFFICIALLY begun.. what do you do to beat the heat? A nice tall glass of lemonade? Frozen Coffee? A dip in the pool? What's your favorite way to keep cool this summer as things heat up?

Pretty much just stay in the AC as much as possible! :)

I do like a nice tall glass of unsweetened iced tea though. I'm pretty simple about that, just some regular Liptons tea. I have one of those Iced Tea Makers, easy peasy. I like some of the fancy teas hot in the winter but I don't like sweet iced tea at all. I know, I know, I'm a southerner & I don't like sweet tea, unusual. I'm just not much on sweet drinks period, I drink coffee in the winter black, the flavored teas that I drink in winter are sweet enough without sugar, & I drink diet sodas cause they don't taste as sweet as regular ones.....

I like lemonade, but I'm more of a pink lemonade gal.... but speaking of lemons, I have some new markers listed in my etsy store. I'm also donating a set of these & my lemon tape measure for a prize in one of the Keepin Cool Dishcloth Swap contests....

Other craftiness...

Nothing on the knitting or spinning front. I'm still working on Secret Project #2. And now I've added Secret Projects #3 & #4! LOL

But I have been doing other crafty things. Last week I found a couple candlestick lamps at Wallyworld. We've been needing some lamps for the bedroom for a while now & I finally got aggravated enough to get searching for them. I did go by several thrift stores trying to find a deal, but there are no deals to find there. Chan said it perfectly, thrift stores aren't so thrifty anymore.... I am of the opinion that just because its 20 or 30 years old doesn't make it a priceless antique, just makes it old junk, but they seem to want a fortune for everything they have. Needless to say, I found NEW junk at Wallyworld for MUCH cheaper! Well, I can't go into Wallyworld without stopping by the craft department just to make sure there isn't anything I need to bring home with me... and I found some great material for $1 a yard! I bought 2 yards, never know when I might find another use for it. :) Ok, getting off track here.... what I did was cover my new plain white lampshades with the great deal material that I found. I think it makes the little shades really pop against the backdrop of my plum colored bedding & curtains. I couldn't have matched the color of purple flowers any better if it had come with the comforter set!

And then yesterday I made a trip to A.C. Moore (Craft Store), I was on a mission for more dishcloth cotton. And I wasn't disappointed! he he! I came home with quite a few cute new balls of cotton. I haven't tried the new stripes yarn so I picked up a few of those along with some other pretty & bright colors. For some reason this year the bright colors are calling to me. I love neutral colors & jewel tones too but they just aren't jumping into my cart for some reason....

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Once again, I got "The Look" from Jasmine... at least she let me snap a photo this week of her face instead of her butt! LOL

I didn't even use the flash this time.... she usually has such a sweet expression, really!!

(Please excuse the cement floor... we still haven't gotten any tile put down in the kitchen... my husband is in the construction business, need I say any more??)

It's hard to believe that my baby turned 7 this Spring. Seems like I just brought her home yesterday!!

Monday Mail

I got a little surprise in the mail today.... and I mean "little".

My buddy Chan sent me an itty bitty sock & sock blocker keychain. How cute is that?!
I knew she was sending the sock blocker, cause no matter what she says she is a sweetie & said that she's send me an extra little blocker that she had. I didn't know that she was going to knit me a tiny sock to go with it. Thanks Chan, you made my Monday! Nothing better than a little surprise in the mail on a Monday!! :)

Keepin Cool Swap TOTW #2

Share with us how you know that summer has truly 'arrived', or something that signifies the start of Summer in your world.

First of all & my least favorite, we know that Summer has truly arrived when the heat arrives! And I mean HOT, STICKY, HUMID, yuck! We have very little Spring here, it tends to go from 50/60 to 100 in the span of a couple of days. I know it gets hotter in other places, but just yuck! I'm a Fall person myself.....

Secondly, I work in a tourist based business so we know when Summer has arrived when it gets super busy at work.... everyone is finally on vacation. Except us! LOL

Secret Project #1 Revealed

Ok, I can finally reveal Secret Project #1.... nothing real exciting, a towel & a couple of dishcloths that I made for Mary's birthday. I wish I had started sooner so I could have made her something more than dishcloths, but there was a lot of love & good wishes put into every stitch. She just repainted her kitchen so I used her new colors....

Nothing else exciting going on here this weekend.... how about you guys?

Wiskers on Wednesday

Of course for our very first Wiskers on Wednesday Jasmine would NOT cooperate! Silly cat! For some unknown reason the past 2 years she has decided that she hates the camera & runs from me every time I get close to it.

So we will just start with a few older photos first.... Here are her baby pictures the day after we got her. She was adopted from a friend who's cats had some mixed kittens. Her mommy was an orange tabby & her daddy was a cream colored persian. She sure was a funny looking kitten!
Just look at those ears & tail! LOL And she used to chase the litter around her litter box, round & round, too funny!
But she sure grew up to be a beautiful princess! And Princess is the perfect word to describe her! You guys will learn more over the next weeks, I don't want to tell everything about her on the first post! :)

I leave you with the only shot I could get of her the last couple of days! LOL Well, she does have a pretty tail, maybe she is just showing it off, ha ha!

Knitting Update....

Nothing new on the spinning front (for my Secret Pal), not enough time in a day!!! Somehow I just keep running out of it! I get up in the morning, go to work... get off around 5, come home, do the dinner thing, check email, etc.... next thing I know it's bedtime! And that's usually 11 or 12! The work day seems to creep by but my evenings keep flying by before I have time to even blink, where does all the time go anyway?

I do have a little knitting done, here is a photo -

Sorry guys, that's all I can show you! :P It's a secret project, as a matter of fact I have 2 secret projects going. One of them is so top secret I can't even show you the stitches. Secret Agent Knitter, that's me! LOL I promise to post photos as soon as I can divulge evidence.

Tomorrow is Wiskers on Wensday! It will be our very first one! Thanks to Jessi & Monica for getting it all going & setting up a great looking site. All of you that are owned by a cat or cats need to go over & check out the blog & join up. Our katty version of Dogs on Thursday..... Stay tuned, so far all Jazzy has shown my camera the past couple of days is her butt! SNOL

Summer DC Swap Topic of the Week #1

Make a post on your own blog sharing YOUR favorite pattern(s) with us!

I love this version of an old favorite by Meilynne over at Yarngear.... Diagonal Knit Dishcloth

I didn't have a photo of one that I did, go figure... so I stole Meilynne's, hope she doesn't mind!

The Lacy Mock Cable Cloth is also one of my favorites! This cloth was designed by Vaunda Rae Giberson & published on the Dishcloth Botique website, they have a lot of other great free patterns there too.
I also heard from my Secret Pal today.... I'm looking forward to another great swap this go-round, it's always lots of fun. :)

A voice to go with the face...

You asked for it, you got it.... a short video that lets you guys hear what I sound like. This is to confirm that KSee still does not have a "Southern" accent. LOL

Don't worry, I didn't sing anything, I wouldn't do that to you guys! :)

New Haircut & Some Goodies

I got a new haircut on Saturday, this is the shortest my hair has been in a looooooong time. But I love it! And it's still long enough to pull up into a pony tail if I don't feel like fooling with it. :) Sorry for the goofy photo! I am feeling a better even though that darn sinus infection isn't gone completely yet.... looks like another trip to the Dr. UGH!!

And this photo is long overdue, I plead insanity due to sickness. Super Duper Terri sent me a care package.... She included an A sticky note pad, a bar of wonderfully smelling soap, some whipped soap, a card & some of her BEAUTIFUL hand dyed yarn in PURPLE! Thanks so much Terri! If I ever get caught up on my projects I have lots of wonderful yarns to choose for my next one! Or three, I'm bad about that startitis.
