More Goodies!

I think I'm still worn out from my trip last weekend! I never got caught up on my rest or cleaning or anything this week! I've even lost my knitting mojo.... can't seem to get into any project at the moment. I think I need to cast on a few more & see which one interests me, the few I have on the needles at the moment just don't call to me..... oh well.

While getting everything unpacked this week, I uncovered a few more goodies that I received on my trip to VA & PA....

Here is the new, really cute, Kathy bag that Chan gave me.... if you don't have one of these little bags yet, you need to head over to Kathy's etsy store & get yourself one, they are great little on-the-go project bags!
And here is the pretty purple wash cloth & little bag that Michelle made for me. This is the softest cotton! I have claimed this for my bath, no one else is allowed to use it! :)
And here is some gorgeous wool fiber that I got from The Flying Ewe. If you are into spinning you really need to head over to their etsy shop & check them out. They have great prices, awesome fiber, and are super friendly! Super fast shipping too!! The purple mix is my favorite, the photo is a little too blue on that one, I can't wait to get spinning with that one! While my knitting mojo might be lacking at the moment, my spinning mojo is in full speed ahead mode. I've made great progress on my Monkey Fuzz Green Hillside fiber from Crazy Monkey. And I really think I'm getting much better at this spinning thing! :)Hope everyone is having a good weekend! I'm pouting now that it's almost over....

Travels & Treasures

Might as well get yourself a drink & a snack, it's gonna be a long one....
I had intentions of posting this last night but 2 things happened.... First the Dishrag Tag box was waiting on me when I got home from work. I had to get that dishcloth knitted up so I wouldn't be holding up my team. Got it done & in the mail today! Second thing that happened to keep me from posting... my darn Internet quit working last night! UGH!! I'm just glad that it's back on today & I didn't have to spend half the night on the phone with tech support!
Lets start with my trip to VA & PA....

I got on the road about noon last Thursday & headed to Chan's in VA. I arrived at Chan's around 7pm that night. We headed out to eat dinner at a local Mexican restaurant, it was totally yummy! Chan & her Knight were wonderful hosts! And of course Sissy & I loved each other on sight! LOL This is what I saw of Sissy most of the time... she was either running full speed ahead or with her nose to the ground. What a cutie pie!
Friday after getting a good night's sleep, we headed up to PA. We talked, & talked, & laughed, generally having a good time during the ride. We met up with Michelle & Amanda around 6:30pm. We checked into Knitter's Day Out, took a quick turn around the market then headed to dinner. We stayed up late talking & knitting.

(From left to right) Me, Amanda, Michelle,Chan

Saturday was filled with classes & shopping the market. And while my classes were a bit to easy/beginner for me, I enjoyed the day. The trip was well worth it to get to spend time with the girls! And I did get some great yarn & fiber at the market, plus a little clear zippered KDO bag for a souvenir.

Then after a wonderful dinner together at Duke's Riverside Bar & Grill we all headed out. Chan & I arrived back at her home about 10:30pm or so.... we stayed up talking & spinning.

Unfortunately Sunday morning came way too soon! Chan & I had plans to visit a local yarn shop at noon, so we played with Sissy & practiced our spinning. We also found out that bobbins do not make good chew toys for dogs.... or maybe they do! :)

But how could you get mad at this sweet face!?! We aren't sure if she took it cause it looked like a good toy or if she was mad at us for spinning & not playing with her. And to be honest she took it from the seat right behind me! LOL She gave me such a pitiful look when I took it away from her.... she knows how to work her humans. Never fear Sissy is having new bobbins sent to me from Jan.While we were getting ready for the yarn shop trip poor Sissy got stung by several Yellow Jackets (bees). Her poor face was swelling something awful & the pain or the stress made her sick, so Chan loaded her up in the car & headed to the vet's office. I finished packing my things back in the Blazer & headed for home. We will visit the yarn shop another time....

Finally pulled back into my driveway at 6pm Sunday evening! It was a loooooong trip, lots of driving in a few short days. But SO worth it to spend time with the girls!

I do have a few finished projects to show you too. This is the hat that I knit for donation at KDO. Just a simple rolled brim hat...

And I finished my purple Circular Shrug in time to wear it to KDO on Saturday!!And last but not least.... I promised you a photo of the pretty fiber that Robin gave me last week when we met. Here it is, Purple Murple from Hippie Art Chick Fibers, can't wait to get spinning on all this fiber I have now! :)I sure hope everyone had as wonderful weekend as I did! It was so awesome to meet so many of my blog buddies the past week!! We MUST get together again soon!

Just not enough time!

Today I had a real treat! I got to meet my blog buddy Robin!! Robin & her DH are on vacation down here in my neck of the woods. Unfortunately I forgot it was Monday & we didn't get a chance to go to the new knitting shop we had planned on going to. :(

It was wonderful to get to meet her in person, & I had a great time chatting about everything under the sun! I took my little spinning wheel with me & we did spin just a little but then got to chatting again, it's hard to chat & spin at the same time! LOL At least for this new spinner. She did show me how to Navajo ply, that was a special treat for me, she made it look so easy! I get the concept now that I've seen it done in person, I'll have to give that a try once I get all of my green fiber spun up into singles. And Robin brought me a little gift of some VERY pretty spinning fiber! I'll get a good photo in the daylight soon....
I couldn't believe it when 5 1/2 hours passed, it went so quick! Too quick! I would have loved to spend the whole day with her. And they were so nice even when I couldn't shut up & made them super late in eating their dinner!
Hopefully we can get together again in the near future where I'll have more time to spend with her. They will be here all week, but their vacation happened to fall the same week that I'm headed up to VA to meet up with Chan on Thursday, then on to PA to meet up with Michelle & Amanda on Friday for the Knitters Day Out weekend.
The funny thing is, I NEVER go anywhere! I'm always here! The one time I actually make plans to go somewhere for a long weekend with the girls (this is probably the first time in 13 years!), I have another friend headed my way. UGH! And unfortunately I have to work every day up to Thursday, got to have money for that expensive gas for my trip, the prices were just starting to get reasonable when the storm came in the gulf & made the prices shoot up again. That figures!!
Hope everyone has a great week! I need to go start packing now... SNOL

Progress...

I have some progress to report on a knitting project! This is the Circular Shrug by Julia Allen. (Ravelry Link)
I am really enjoying this project so far. Even thought the 5 inches of K2P2 ribbing seemed to take forever. I changed the body to stockinette with a lace & cable insert in the middle. Which is probably a waste of time since on the dark purple it will be hard to see. (the purple is darker than in the photo) But it's keeping it interesting. I have to do the body for 20 inches, which is going MUCH faster than the ribbing.... Can't wait to get it finished! I wish I could get it finished for my trip to the Knitter's Day Out event but I'm not getting my hopes up for that.
And Grace is having a blogiversary contest for her 2nd blogiversary! She is giving away one of her beautiful shawls, you don't want to miss out on a chance to win that!! Find your favorite shawl pattern & go on over to her blog & post a link to it in the comments. Then give a little shout out on your blog... & you've got 2 entries right there!
Happy 2 Year Blogiversary Grace!!

Tropical Storm Hanna

Tropical Storm Hanna came ashore right on our little town of Calabash, NC. It was a lot of rain & a lot of wind, but we didn't get any damage. Unless you count the soreness I'm gonna get in my muscles from raking all the pine needles, pine cones & little branches from the yard!

She came ashore about midnight, and I have to admit that I slept through most of it. There was some heavy rain before I went to bed, and I woke up a couple of times in the night hearing the wind whip around the house. We were lucky and never even lost power. I know that there were quite a few that did. Even though there was a lot of water in the yard when I went to bed last night we've been so dry here that it was all soaked up by the time we got out and about this morning. So now it's just a matter of cleaning up the yard. We are very thankful that is all we have to do.

I just wanted to let everyone know that we were all okay here & no damage. Thank you to everyone who sent messages of well wishes & worry for me & mine. I hope that everyone else in the path of Hanna fares as well as we did.

Now to struggle with putting the knitting down & finding that rake!

Whiskers on Wednesday

It's Wednesday already????

Whew, Princess J & I are tired.... It's been a long week already, and it's only going to get longer waiting to see if we get flooded out by Hanna. Hopefully not! If we are lucky it'll stay off the coast and all we'll get is some rain. Then we'll have to see where Ike is headed after that.... don't ya just love hurricane season on the Carolina coast? **sigh**

Hope everyone has a great Thurs & Fri! Best of luck & calm winds & seas to everyone on the East Coast....hoping for the best! :)

PS - Don't forget to go check out the WoW site! Starspry's Charlie & Kennedy are the featured furbabies this week!
